August is the Sunday of summer. The best season (in my opinion!) is coming to a close and it's time to soak up the final rays it has to offer with BBQ’s, pool parties, and that final trip to the beach. August means Leo season astrologically, back to school shopping, and the county fair is in town. It’s time to send off summer with the ultimate August celebration, here is your guide to celebrating August the way it should be!
The Birthstone: Peridot
The August birthstone is out of this world! Literally, Peridot gemstone was first found in meteorites that had fallen to earth. It has been found on Mars and the moon as well.
The flowers: Gladiolus and the Poppy
The month of August is twice as special with two colorful birth flowers. The gladiolus represents calm, integrity, and infatuation while the poppy has different meanings based on its color. A red poppy signifies pleasure, a white poppy means consolation, and a yellow poppy promotes wealth and success. And a bouquet of flowers translates to a happy recipient!
National Dog Day
It’s the dog days of summer! There are no federal holidays in August but some might argue that this holiday should be one. National Dog Day falls on August 26 and gives us another excuse to spoil our very best friend (as if we needed one).
National back to school month
Summer is ending and that means the school year is beginning. It’s back to school month! There might be mixed emotions about heading back to school at home but there is one thing that gets everyone excited: new school gear! Click the image to make your kid the coolest kid at school this year.
